About

Treasures of Yesteryear began with a simple, difficult moment: helping someone sort through a lifetime of belongings during a move.

Downsizing, estate organization, and life transitions are emotionally heavy. Every item holds a decision — keep, gift, donate, pass on — and beneath each decision is a story that feels worth remembering. We wanted to make that process calmer: a quiet place to document what matters, without pressure or overwhelm.

Why this matters

Meaningful belongings are rarely just objects. A handwritten recipe is also the memory of who made it. A travel photo holds the feeling of that day. A worn tool carries years of care. When we preserve the stories attached to items, letting go or passing them along becomes less painful — because the meaning stays.

And if something is passed to future generations, the story behind it often matters more than the item itself.

The power of voice

One of the most meaningful things you can leave behind is the sound of your voice — or the voice of someone you love.

With Treasures of Yesteryear, you can record voice notes about items, memories, or moments. We preserve the original audio and, when possible, create searchable transcripts. Hearing a loved one describe a keepsake in their own words can become just as precious as the item itself.

Private by default

Share only with family or people you choose. This is not a public social network, and it never will be. Treasures of Yesteryear is built for calm, intentional preservation — not attention or metrics.

The platform is designed to help you:

Whether you are organizing a family collection, helping a parent downsize, preserving recipes for the next generation, or simply keeping memories safe, the goal is the same: to hold onto what matters, gently and intentionally.
